Crafters undercutting each other in the same guild

2022.01.27 11:12 Tomtoro24 Crafters undercutting each other in the same guild

Hi all, I've been wondering lately about undercutting. I've seen it a lot lately, not a few things here an there at lower than market price, but mainly the same person crafting and selling things everyday for 50 gold less than the cheapest in the guild each time (then lowering it again if someone sells cheaper in the guild). What's the common consensus and opinions on this? Just wondering what you all think and if that's based on experiences that they've had themselves.

2022.01.27 11:12 PhilipE2712 It's too early to panic about Tanxugueiras.

It's been a while since I've done an opinion piece on this sub, but I saw the results of Benidorm Fest's 1st semifinal last night (I didn't watch it live, because I'm a 70-year old trapped in the body of a 29-year old, I couldn't stay up for it) & I've been thinking about them since this morning. And I have a few thoughts about them. Mainly, that it's too early to write off Tanxugueiras' "Terra", despite them losing in the semifinal to Chanel's "SloMo".

Now, I was surprised seeing Chanel winning this semi, but looking back, after watching the performances, I probably shouldn't be. "SloMo" had the sleekest, most professional staging in the semi (that & "Secreto de agua", which could become a sleeper in the final), whereas "Terra" felt more rough around the edges, almost like it was still a work in progress. Something that could also make sense, considering 2 of the 3 members of the band only got out of COVID protocol earlier this week, so I don't know how much opportunity they had to fine-tune their performance & staging before the semi. I'd expect their performance & staging to be better on Saturday night.

I also said to someone, on another post, that "Terra" might be a bit of a victim of it's own hype (or of fans' hype). This is something that might also be happening, as we speak, with Elsie Bay in Norway, as "Terra" & "Death of Us" were 2 songs most of the Eurovision fanbase got extremely hyped about, making comparisons to previous Eurovision entries, and in particular, I've seen comparisons, respectively, to songs like "Shum" (for "Terra") and "Growing Up is Getting Old" (for "Death of Us"). 2 songs, critically, with possibly all-time great stagings (certainly "Shum", I'd argue that for "GUiGO"). I believe people created ideas in their head about what "Terra" would look like, when performed live, and got disappointed when they saw the actual product (which I don't believe was bad at all, but it may have been a bit underwhelming, compared to expectations). Same with "Death of Us", which I liked it's staging, but I can see why it left others perplexed or underwhelmed. I don't think this affected the result that much last night (considering "Terra" still did very well in the televote), but it might explain some of the lukewarm reaction to the performance last night.

But the bigger reason why I'm not too worried (yet) about "Terra" is how they lost last night: the jury. "SloMo" beat "Terra" 110-93 in the final score, and all 17 points of difference came in the jury score (55-38 in favor of "SloMo"). I don't expect "Terra" to end up at the bottom of the list in the juries on Saturday, with a more polished performance, and I don't expect that point difference to be quite significant either, considering entries like "Eco", "Make You Say" & "Culpa", who could potentially join from the 2nd semifinal (though probably not all 3 of them), could also be possibly considered jury earworms (maybe not quite to the level of "SloMo", but enough to chip away some points there). And also, despite the potential presence of "Ay mama" & "Calle de la lloreria" in the final (both of which appear to be very popular amongst fans, but could possibly also get shafted by juries), I don't think "Terra" will see that much of a decrease in their overall televote score, compared to the decrease "SloMo" could see in it's jury score.

Obviously, I could be talking out of my ass right now & things might go in more of the same fashion on Saturday. Or one of the other 2 seeming fan-favorites, "Ay mama" or "Calle de la lloreria" could find themselves in the position I think "Terra" is in right now. All I'm saying is, losing a semifinal, as we've even seen in Eurovision (4 times), doesn't mean you can't win the final, so don't quite sleep on "Terra" & Tanxugueiras just yet. Of course, if you disagree & you do think that I'm talking right out of my ass, you're free to tell me so in the comments, I'd love to know what you thought of last night's semi (and also, what you think might happen tonight & on Saturday night).

So my boyfriend and I had a big fishy because he was doing things he told me he would never do again. I won’t go into details about that, but the things he did are a very bid deal to me. I was ready to break it off because I know my worth and honestly I was tired of being lied to. It’s only been 12 days since that fight. My question is, how do I go about trusting him again? I’m not the type to go through phones or anything. I only caught him lying about things because I used his iPad for my college work. 😒

2022.01.27 11:11 Iloveshortbreadb Goalkeepers are absolutely ridiculous in the final stages of a game.

I had about 21 shots on target which I’m sure the majority came from the final minutes of my FUT champs matches and my opponents keeper saved literally everything.
Shot after shot, saved. Didn’t matter how I placed it, it didn’t matter if it was in the far bottom right hand corner and the keeper was in the stadium car park he’d still get a touch to it.
I literally tried everything. And then my opponent comes back to score in the 120th minute as you’d expect.

2022.01.27 11:11 Wobuba My (22M) fiance (27F) asked for some space and is bothering me so much

So short resume we came to spend holidays to my home country together, got engaged here and then she went back to the country we live and I stayed for some reasons.
She haven't been check never and refuses to it but from the way she acts and all I think she may have something like BPD I don't know again it's just suppositions. So everytime she's struggling with emotions which is almost everyday and we're not together she just shut down to avoid saying anything she'll regret later.
Past week we didn't talk or text for some days, I approached her about this been kind of weird since we usually talk some hours in the phone everyday when we're away and she told me she wanted space, she reassured me we are okay and she loves me but still wants a little bit of space because she doesn't feel like herself latetly.
Not gonna lie as this never happened to me with her or with anyone is bothering me so much. Specially the fact that if we are that fine why the space, of course I can't do nothing but respect her and give that space but not knowing the outcome kind of makes me overthink. And the fact that we just got engaged like 3 weeks ago and she was jumping of happiness makes me confuse.

2022.01.27 11:11 matt0055 “RWBY Chibi is better than RWBY proper.”

Okay… how?
Is Chibi telling a more coherent narrative over the course of multiple volumes? No, it’s just the characters in silly shenanigans.
Is Chibi giving more depth and dimension to our heroes? No, they’re largely flat with their basic character traits and likable enough. Fun but not terribly fitting for what’s meant to be a long form story.
Is Chibi more funny? I mean… it’s kooky enough but I feel that they’re holding themselves back considering how Red vs. Blue spoiled me on how biting it can be.
Even then, the CRWBY know how to do humor in the more bleaker volumes such as with Volume Eight where Nora sends Weiss up a mail chute.
Some say that it's about how RWBY use to be simple or how it was meant to be simple, just a thin excuse plot for battles. I... disagree:
Yes, RWBY was set up in a fairly cookie-cutter manner with a loose plot line and fairly cliched characters… that were all meant to be built up into something far more from the start. It was always meant to be the foundation for something more to come with richer characterization, richer lore, richer storytelling.
Monty Oum, Miles Luna and Kerry Shawcross have gone on record to repeatedly state that their intention was to, for one, have character initially come off as just an archetype before developing them into something more.
This video spells it out quite well in this area: https://youtu.be/R9XYzqrYbcY?t=1646
Volume 1 had Jaune recognize he was the stupid, goofy guy and his arc is about reconciling with it lest he becomes someone toxic like Cardin. Weiss Schnee and Blake Belladonna steal the show in the final storyline of that very volume with them starting down the path to coming to terms with their past.
They never lost sight of what they were doing. They always had this in mind. Hell, how much of the Beacon arc had stories with the heroes breaking away from school activities in favor of pursuing bad guys in Vale. Volume Two even had their introspection at Mount. Glenn where they consider who they are and what they really want to be.
It’s a story about growing up and how thing seems simple at first with cool fights as well as simple characters to be friends with before the real world rears its ugly head. When that happens, it’s all about fighting back for whatever hope might remain for this world of our’s.
